Louie Bellson was a composer, arranger, bandleader, and jazz educator, and is credited with pioneering the use of 2 bass drums. As an internationally acclaimed musician, Bellson performed in nearly every major capital around the world. He and his first wife, the late actress and singer Pearl Bailey, had the second highest number of appearances at the White House-second only to Bob Hope.
